Two-level parking lot at St. Catherine’s Square in Toruń

A two-storey parking lot with an area of 5,100 m2 under St. Catherine’s Square in Toruń. The underground part contains 172 parking spaces, including four for disabled persons. On the surface, 115 cars can be parked. Interestingly, this part is designed so that city ceremonies can take place there.

Over 5,000 m3 of concrete, 500 tons of reinforcing steel, and nearly 1,000 tons of granite paving stones were used to build the parking lot. The fire protection installation alone consists of almost half a kilometer of pipes. The parking lot has space for 287 passenger cars.

The entrance to the main deck is located on the northern side. Drivers enter the underground from the northwest side and exit from the northeast side. Four staircases and two elevators for disabled persons provide access to the surface.

The facility is equipped with monitoring, a system indicating free spaces on the lower and upper decks, and a payment collection system.

Interestingly, on the lower level of the parking lot, one of the most modern solutions used worldwide at the time was applied – a resin floor. This is a floor characterized by high mechanical and chemical resistance compared to concrete floors. Additionally, it is durable under very heavy loads.

The two-level parking lot at St. Catherine’s Square is the first facility of its kind in Toruń with a uniform parking function.
