Revitalization of Collegium Rubrum
As part of the investment, we revitalized the historic artillery warehouse into a scientific research facility of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The 120-year-old building became the seat of the Faculty of Law and Administration, which houses the Greater Poland Legal Library as well as the offices of the Faculty, staff, and spaces for students. The library is accessible not only to students but also to all city residents. The investment included the revitalization of the post-military area at al. Niepodległości 53 in Poznań. Sixty parking spaces, sidewalks, and fire roads were created.
The Collegium Rubrum building is an integral part of the urban-architectural complex known as the Stübben Ring, which is listed in the register of monuments and is protected by the conservator in its external parts. Therefore, every stage of the work was carried out with particular attention to detail due to the historic character of the facade, roof, windows, and the area around the building.
Inside the building, internal walls, sanitary and electrical installations, as well as ceilings and furnishing elements were demolished. The project also included the replacement of the wooden roof truss structure, the construction of the building’s interior according to a completely new room arrangement, and partial reinforcement of the main building structure by creating additional foundation footings, steel columns, elevator shafts, and micropiles to strengthen the soil bearing capacity. Additionally, the existing wooden ceilings were replaced with prestressed, ribbed ceilings. Steel columns and beams were concreted to form a composite structure. The existing foundations were reinforced using injection columns with jet-grouting technology.
The total area of the facility is as much as 5,856.81 m², and the volume is 27,376.21 m³. The value of the investment exceeds 46 million zlotys.
