District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław
As part of the conducted investment, a major renovation of the historic 19th-century building was carried out. The main scope of work included the replacement of window and door joinery, revitalization of the facade, as well as insulation of the roof. The interiors of the building were comprehensively renovated, including the underground floor and the previously unused attic.
Thanks to the conducted investment, the object under conservation protection has regained its former glory. The building features rich facade decoration, and the color of the front facade was selected based on stratigraphic studies and consultations with the city monument conservator.
The building, located at 27 Podwale Street in Wrocław, was constructed between 1828-1834 as barracks for the Cuirassiers, housing several hundred soldiers. After the war, the building was used by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and later, until the end of 2009, the County Office was located at Podwale. Currently, the building is designated for public utility purposes of the state administration of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław.
It is currently the oldest preserved former Prussian barracks building in Wrocław. It is classified among buildings under conservation protection, which applies to 19th-century buildings. Around it, except for the corner part, runs a moat 95 cm wide and 1.45 m to 2.40 m deep relative to the ground surface.
